The Abila Archaeological Project is an archaeological excavation that takes place in northern Jordan. Abila is most well known as one of the cities of the Hellenistic league known as the Decapolis, and then as the home of five prominent churches during the Byzantine period. In connection with the Abila Archaeological Project, JBU offers summer studies and archaeological trips in Jordan where students earn 12 credit hours in areas such as art, archaeology, Christian formation, evangelical theology, and intercultural engagement.
