Description
In June of this year, the U.S. Supreme Court issued two rulings with significant practical implications for ministry and church organizations. In one ruling, the Court held that a federal law protects employees from discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. In the other ruling, the Court held that this federal law doesn’t apply to employees whose job duties play a vital part in carrying out the religious mission of their employer (nor do other civil rights laws).
This webinar recording discusses steps ministry organizations can take to strengthen their legal rights based on these cases, including possible revisions to job descriptions and employment policies, specific points to include in performance evaluations, and board level policies. In addition, this recording offers insights from cases protecting sexual orientation and gender identity that ministry organizations can use to communicate their beliefs and standards more effectively.
