Gospel Rescue Mission of Tucson

Ministry Description
Gospel Rescue Mission was founded in 1953 and exists to serve the homeless and impoverished – bringing transformation out of brokenness. The founder, Ray Chastain was a yardmaster for Southern Pacific Railroad and had compassion for those riding the rails and that compassion grew to the birth of the Mission. Now led by Ray’s granddaughter, Lisa Chastain, Gospel Rescue Mission is the largest homeless service center in Southern Arizona providing transformational services through; food and shelter, addiction recovery, workforce development, housing and many other lifesaving programs and services. Our core values; love, grace, dignity and respect allow us to journey with people out of homelessness into wholeness. Our holistic approach addresses the needs of the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Gospel Rescue Mission is 100% privately funded and is the Managing Partner of the Center of Opportunity – a collaborative campus comprised of over 50 nonprofits and volunteer service partners bringing solutions and hope to those experiencing homelessness. The services offered at the Center are; full service medical and dental services, job training for higher paying jobs, judicial services, legal services, government benefits, veteran services, and much more. We work in collaboration with those who are passionate about bringing permanent solutions to the crisis of homelessness.
