Neema Village Tanzania

Ministry Description
Neema Village (NV) Tanzania (formerly Neema House) was established in 2012 in Arusha, Tanzania as a baby rescue center for abandoned, orphaned and at-risk infants. NV is not only a 501C3 but also a registered NGO in Tanzania. NV accept babies as small as under 2 pounds and provides them with a loving and healthy environment until they can return them to an extended family member or find a forever family for them through the Adoption Program. By the end of 2023, over 309 babies have been saved, 63 have been adopted, and 160 have returned to a family member. In 2017, the name changed to NV as the ministry was expanded beyond baby care. Recognizing the need for gender equality, impoverished single mothers and widows are now offered a training program called MAP (Mothers Against Poverty) whereby they can become self-sufficient through entrepreneurial training and grants to help them establish their own businesses. A Rehabilitative Daycare was established to care for MAP mother's special needs children. In June 2020, the Save The Mother's Program (STM) was added to teach village "birthers" safe prenatal and delivery practices. Also added was a "Days for Girls" program for teenage girls teaching menstrual and hygiene education, importance of school education, and marrying at an older age. In 2022 an apprenticeship program for some of the single fathers of our babies began so they could support their child by the time the child was old enough to go home. Also in 2022, drilling water wells for villages, medical facilities, or schools that do not have access to water started.
