Institute for Shelter Care

Ministry Description
Institute for Shelter Care is a dba of The Samaritan Women (TSW), a national Christian anti-human trafficking ministry founded in 2007. TSW previously operated one of only a handful of long-term restoration programs in this country, serving young women who were survivors of domestic human trafficking from across the United States. TSW operated two homes, providing a comprehensive trauma-informed program of spiritual, educational, vocational, relational, life-skills, and case management. All services were offered at no cost to the survivor. After serving 100+ survivors over a 12-year period, TSW recognized that it could have a greater impact for survivors by teaching others how to do this work well. In 2018 the Institute for Shelter Care was founded to equip Christian ministries with the knowledge, skills, tools, and community needed to provide exemplary restorative care to the sexually exploited.
